I have to say it was with a very heavy heart I decided to leave Pickleberrypop and having my good bye sale last weekend. I have been thinking about it for some time. I haven’t had much time to create new templates….

No, lets start over I have just as many hours as any other human on the earth. It’s just that I got the “burnout” syndrom for more than a year ago. After working way to much for more than ten years, I suddenly wasn’t able to continue anymore. Not like I used to, anyway. So the reason I decided to leave Pickleberrypop was simply to take the pressure off my back. Don’t get me wrong, Pickleberrypops owner never put any pressure on me to create, but I felt I was a bad team member, not contributing enough.

My Memories Suite Coupon

Todays post will not be about my own products for a change . I was asked to host a giveaway for My Memories Suite a few weeks ago, which I  accepted of course! I have wanted to test the program for a while. And I am also allowed to share this My Memories Coupon Code for those of you that want it, but don’t win.

Almost weekly I get e-mails from people asking for an alternative to Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, wanting something cheaper and easier to use. What confused me a little when I opened the program, after a very smooth and fast install process, was the menus. You have one sidebar on each side of the work area and an icon bar above it. And at the first glance, they seem to do exactly the same. You can insert photos and elements from all three of them. But the left sidebar is more like a browser, while the control panel sidebar on the right side lets you customize everything. Like shadows, adding titles and text, adding music, create videos etc

Digital Scrapbooking Templates and My Memories Suite

The kind of templates I create and sell can not be used within My Memories Suite. The reason for using digital scrapbooking templates in software like Photoshop and PSP is to save time and to make it easier to create scrapbook pages. Will I make templates in MMS format? Nope! Simply because I don’t think it would be a time saver in My Memories Suite.

Now I’m going to say something really stupid for my own business: If you want to use my templates with My Memories Suite, just download the preview from the store and use it like a page map/sketch. You can create a page in no time, without using my kind of templates.

My Memories actually sell templates, but these are not like ordinary digital scrapbook templates. They are more like layered quick pages, where you can move the elements around and customize the look yourself.

Who needs a video scrapbook?

Sometimes I am a little narrow minded. I remember reading a review of another scrapbook software in Macworld a while ago. And the person who wrote this review listed pros and cons, and one of the cons was that he couldn’t add music to the pages. And I thought….hellooo….we make scrapbooks, we don’t expect to hear Holiday with Scorpions when we open our vacation scrapbook.

Well, creating a scrapbook album is one thing, but it actually is a pretty cool to get it on a dvd as well. Instead of sending your album around for everyone to admire after a family dinner, you could just put a dvd in your player and show the whole book on your big flatscreen tv(if you are among the lucky ones that have one) for everyone to see. With My Memories Suite you can do all this. You can have a dvd ordered with your printed scrapbook if you like AND you can also include video snippets inside the scrapbook pages, and also music. How cool is that?

Can I use scrapbook kits I already own or do I have to buy everything from My Memories?

Let me first say that the software comes with lots of papers and elements included, and you can also go shopping in their store directly from the softwares interface.

If you already have lots of digital scrapbook kits, you can use all of them with My Memories Suite as well. There are several ways to do it. You can click the add element button and then “browse other” to find the kit you want to use. Then double click the element and it lands on your page.

You can also add your kits to My Memories Suite’s folder structure like I did with my Garden of France kit. I just created a new folder inside the Embellishment folder, called it France and….you can see the rest in the folder structure in this screenshot. It is totally up to you how you organize the content in these folders. You can put your favorite buttons in the button folder, your most beautiful flowers in the flowers folder and so on.

There are tons of different digital scrapbook templates that you will find when you use this website and browse my store. The price per template set will depend on which one that you buy but the average price will be less than five dollars. Once you buy the templates you can use it to add as many pictures to it as you want. You can also add your own wording and captions to the templates.

Digital scrapbooking has become popular because it practically eliminates the need to buy paper, and it saves the environment. Instead of spending a lot of money on buying a scrapbook, and the paper to go in them, you will never have to worry about losing the item with the use of digital scrapbooking. It also will cost you less to do it on the computer then if you were to spend hours doing it by hand.

Have fun using Digital Scrapbook Templates!

If you are one of my regular customers, you have probably seen that I have a few Digital Scrapbook Templates with blending masks. The trend of using blended backgrounds on your digital scrapbook layouts have obviously come to stay. And these digital scrapbook templates with blending masks makes it super easy to create the look of a blended background on your pages. But some people struggle with them so I decided to create a little tutorial to show how you can use them.

Template Pack No 41 is a template pack that includes three digital scrapbook templates with blending masks.

This is the one that I’m going to use in this tutorial:

First, insert your photos and the background and the elements you want to use to the digital scrapbook template. Then add the photo you want to use above the blending mask layer like this:

Your layers palette should look like this:

Now you should press ctr+g(cmd+g on a Mac) if you use Photoshop Elements, if you use Photoshop CS, you need to add the alt tast as well, ctr+alt+g(cmd+alt+g) to group the photo with your blending mask.

You are now almost finished with your digital scrapbook layout, but you can still use the opacity slider to get the perfect look of your layout. Just move it back and forth until you are satisfied with the look.
